Playful Predicaments (Bamboo)
Ever wanted to play with predicaments and bondage but unsure where to start? Experienced already and wanted to add some extra sadism to your tool kit? Come along to Playful Predicaments, an intermediate level floor rope class at Studio of Secrets. Shibari educator and performer Himboy will be teaching a variety of predicament-based ties, from the toes and feet all the way up to the head. Whether you like a slow burn with shaking legs, a breathy torsion, or a choice between two or more evils, you are sure to walk away inspired and ready to play.
Class will include
Introduction to Shibari as a tool for creating playful physical and mental predicaments using bamboo on the floor
4-6 exercises and ties that explore predicament bamboo play over the entire body intermediate levels
Negotiation practice and collaborative tying tips and tricks
Education for rope bottoms in developing body awareness in rope, learning the intricacies of receiving rope and bamboo together, and learn what they can bring to ties
Please note that for this class you may bring your own floor bamboo (generally 2-7cm wide and about 1-1.5m long), or buy a ticket that includes two pieces of floor bamboo that you can take home.
Pre-requisites/class requirements
Tying knowledge - TK or alternative chest harness option (hands in front or hands free all fine), non-collapsing single column tie, hojo/inline cuffs
Communication knowledge - the ability to clearly communicate boundaries throughout the class, some experience with rope play as a top/bottom

Festive Rope – knotty or nice
Come enjoy a fun and relaxing end of year open level rope class at Studio of Secrets. Bring along your decorations, tinsel, fairy lights, baubles, and rope, and learn some creative ties from Shibari Santa himself, Himboy, and his helper elves. From Festive Ham futomomos, to Christmas Tree hishi/diamond ties, to making bamboo angels, it’s sure to be a festive romp.

Who are the classes for?
Anyone that wants to explore rope as a tool for play no matter the background of rope school or experience
Models and tops of any size/shape/ability (all ties have modifications for the top and the bottom)
Anyone interested in rope somatics and nerdy rope things
Tying partners - each class has practical elements so come with someone you are comfortable tying with
To bring to class
6-8 lengths of rope (ideally jute, but whatever you are comfortable with*), cutting implement, yoga mat, drink bottle, notebook
*Rope in both classes may be used in intimate areas (crotch/mouth/etc) and may become fluid bonded with tying partner - please be aware of this when considering the type of rope you want to bring to class!
To wear to class
Comfortable semi-formal clothes for tying in (i.e. not sports wear). Think what you’d wear for scenes and play (unless you do wear sports wear for play, in which case go ahead!)

Himboy (they/he) is a trans gender fluid human living and teaching on unceded Wurundjeri country in Naarm/Melbourne. He has been in and around the rope community and an active member of the broader kink scene since 2016. In 2020 Himboy co-founded Melbourne Community Rope, a queer led not-for-profit teaching collective of rope educators. He has previously taught at Peer Rope Melbourne, Mannhaus’ ‘The Establishment’ series, Hitchcraft Sydney, The Bindery Perth, as well as in private lessons around Australia. Presenting adult education on a range of topics, from rope and movement, to bottom education and other BDSM topics, he focuses on developing accessibility in his teaching, considering intersectionality and trauma informed approaches. A lifelong learner, he frequently attends classes in person and online from a range of teachers.
Penn (they/them) are a non-binary queer person, born and raised in Naarm. They are an avid BDSM and shibari enthusiast with over six years of rope modelling experience, spanning performance, education, and intimate exploration.
Jack
Jack (he/they) is a leatherman based in Naarm. New to rope but not to kink, he is enjoying explorations of surrender, intimacy and pleasure in shibari, and is excited to build community and learn more about himself through rope.
